As a lifelong Capital Region sports fan who has just so happened to be in radio for most of my professional life the chance to “join the Team” pun intended was the kind of offer I’ve been dreaming of. Growing up a Yankees, Knicks and Raiders fan(a punishment I share with my beautiful daughter Ella) I’ve felt the pain and success that comes with diehard fandom. Luckily for me my friends that love the Giants have adopted me so I have a reason to watch football after the Raiders have been eliminated EARLY every season for the last 10 plus years. I’m excited to talk sports and enjoy multiple happy hours with all the sports fans of the Cap Region…even the Red Sox fans.

Sports Arenas, Museums, Zoos And Movie Theaters About To Expand Capacity
Great news for fans of the Nets, Knicks, Islanders, Rangers, and Albany Empire. In today's coronavirus press briefing, Governor Andrew Cuomo said the current 10% capacity limit set on all indoor sports arenas in New York state will increase to 25% on Wednesday, May 19th. This is great news for teams like the Nets, Knicks, and Islanders who all appear to be headed to postseason play. The Rangers are far from a lock for the postseason but still alive thanks to a four-game sweep over the New Jersey Devils. This also confirms the reports that the Albany Empire would be able to host 25% of the Times Union Center for their home opener now scheduled for Saturday, May 29th.
UAlbany Football Opts-Out Of Remainder Of Spring Season
The University of Albany Football has announced that they will opt-out of their two remaining games this Spring season. The decision was made public in a press release from the university earlier today. The Great Danes were scheduled to play at #8 Delaware on April 3 and at home against #16 Villanova on April 10. The team says they decided to opt-out due to "a focus on the health and safety of the team's student-athletes due to the high number of injuries on the roster."
COVID-19 Tests Available At Times Union Center For NCAA Ticket Holders
As a stipulation to attending this weekend's NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Regional at the Times Union Center you'll need to provide a negative PCR COVID-19 Test taken no more than 72 hours prior to the game. IF you're looking for a place to take those tests you can now go to the Times Union Center itself.
New York Man Sells Farts For $85 A Blast
The non-fungible token craze may have gone too far OR finally found a way for me to cash in. A man in New York City has decided to sell his farts. After collecting a year's worth of audio clips of himself and friends farting during quarantine, Alex Ramírez-Mallis is ready to cash in. He's selling NFT versions of his farts for as much as $85. I don't know about you but after all the corned beef, cabbage and Guinness I ingested on St Paddy's Day I think I'm about to be a millionaire if this business model passes the smell test.
The Albany NLL Season Has It’s 2021-2022 Start Date
If it feels like things are moving super fast for the Albany NLL lacrosse team just wait until they get on the field at the Times Union Center. It's been just over two weeks since we found out the Capital Region was getting professional indoor lacrosse back but we already know when the season will begin.
New York Baseball Fans Are Surprisingly Not the Booziest
As we get closer and closer to being able to return to the ballparks all fans were forced to abandon thanks to COVID-19 I start getting nostalgic for the little things. You know like an ice-cold beer at a Yankees or Mets game. Ice cold beers in team souvenir cups are a staple of the "Great American Pastime". Some fans wear their ability to throw back beers at games as a badge of honor while some are a bit more discreet but all 30 fanbases drink. So who's the winner when it comes to most beers consumed per game and can we start keeping "BPG" as a stat?
Get Paid $1,000 To Play Cornhole Right In Your Own Backyard
Just about every time I walk into a friend's backyard on the weekend someone is playing Corn Hole and most likely telling tales of how great they are at it. Now obviously we're not all getting together like we used to but you can still put your love of Corn Hole to work for you and instead of shaming me for my lack of skill you could cash in $1,000 just for safely playing a couple of games safely in your yard.
Times Union Center Opens Doors To Fans This March
Great News for sports fans in the Capital Region! Not only are the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Regional still coming to Albany but the Times Union Center plans on having fans in attendance. When the puck drops on March 27th 10% capacity of the Times Union Center will be in attendance.
Find Out Who Albany Media Likes In The Super Bowl
Super Bowl LV is a matchup for the ages with "The Goat" Tom Brady Vs "The Baby Goat" Patrick Mahomes. With a game of this magnitude, it only makes sense to reach out to as many members of the Albany Media as possible. Below is an assortment of 104.5 The Team personalities and producers along with some of my favorite Capital Region Sports TV Personalities. Each was asked to predict the winner with the final score, MVP, if Tom Brady will retire after the game, who will be in Super Bowl LVI, and any prop bet or bold prediction they like for the game.
Schenectady Gets Love From 3 Time Super Bowl Champion [INTERVIEW]
Mark Schlereth has played for 2 NFL teams, had 29 surgeries, won 3 Super Bowls and loves Schenectady New York. The crazy part is the guy has never even been here. Schlereth some how ended up with a "Schenectady T-Shirt" while he was in college at Idaho and has loved the city's name ever since. At this point every time he sees me he yells "SCHENECTADY"! He also knows a little bit about football so it was great to catch up with Schlereth and preview the Big Game.
