It's been a whirlwind last 48 hours around the National Football League, as teams had to get down to 53 players.

850 players were released, with many of them being brought back today on their team's practice squads. Some were claimed on waivers and other free agents are signing with other teams, in what is a hectic day across the NFL.

The Buffalo Bills lost three players to waivers: CB Alex Austin, OL Nick Broeker and S Zayne Anderson. The Bills have not yet released their practice squad signings yet, but indications are they have brought back the likes of WR Andy Isabella, CB Ja'Marcus Ingram and DT Eli Ankou.

In what was a very surprising move on Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts released veteran wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie.

McKenzie signed a free agent contract with the Colts in March. The former Bills receiver played in Buffalo from 2018-2022.

There's chatter that the Bills could bring McKenzie back on the practice squad, but considering they already have Deonte Harty and reportedly brought back Isabella on the practice squad, there's no real need for McKenzie on the roster right now.

The fact he was a release though is shocking. The fan-favorite will be looking for a job elsewhere.

UPDATE: McKenzie is back with the Colts, although it’s unclear if this is the same contract he had signed with them in the off-season.
