Story Update: November 21, 2022 at 12:30PM

Two weeks ago, I wrote a story about Twitter user @noonernation, and his magical coin. "Nooner" flipped a coin to determine the result (win or loss) for every New York Jets' game this season, tracked the results, and posted a photo of them on his account.

The photo was posted in August. It's now November, and through ten games this season, the New York Jets are miraculously 6-4.

Yet, @noonernation is a perfect 10-0 on his predictions, thanks to the Jets' loss yesterday at the hands of the New England Patriots. His unprecedented run of success has continued beyond anyone's wildest dreams.

Will the success continue against the Chicago Bears? It's too early to tell, obviously, but based on their prediction of a loss, and the way Zach Wilson is being treated, it seems as if it may be a strong prediction.

So, here is the rest of my story on the incredible phenomenon, written two weeks ago today.

A lot of New York Jets' fans expected this year's team to be improved from a season ago. No one expected the team to have a record of 6-3 heading into their Week 10 bye.

Well, almost no one.

Sports fans around the country have various creative ways to prognosticate their team's record before the season begins. Over the years, we've seen videos of animals bouncing balls into hoops labeled with team logos; we've witnessed fish and dogs swimming and running toward treats positioned in front of team logos; we've seen it all.

This time, a fan of the New York Jets placed the fate of his team into the flip of a coin, and the results have been remarkable.

Can You Believe This New York Jets' Fan's "Coin Flip" Predictions?

A New York Sports fan on Twitter, whose handle is @noonernation and whose Twitter Avatar name is simply Nooner, has done the near-impossible. As he details on his page, at the beginning of the season, he listed out the 17 regular season games for the New York Jets in 2022 on a sheet of paper.

For each game, he flipped a coin, and the "Heads" or "Tails" result would lead him to mark each game as a win or loss. He ended up with the following result:

When Nooner published this experiment in August, fans were likely quick to dismiss him. Beating Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson? Beating Tyreek Hill's new team? BEATING THE BUFFALO BILLS? There was no way this prediction would be accurate; in fact, it could've been busted by Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns.

The Jets underwhelmed in Week 1 against the Ravens, and after picking up a win against Cleveland in Week 2, were pummeled by the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3. Robert Saleh was calling for his team to take receipts, Zach Wilson was still on the shelf, and it seemed as though Jets' fans were in for a long season.

Nooner, however, hadn't missed a prediction yet.

That's where this story goes from cool to incredible, and then to miraculous. The Jets would storm back from their loss to the Bengals, winning four games in a row, giving them a record of 5-2 through seven games.

Still, Nooner was without a loss on the campaign, with Bill Belichick and the Patriots coming next. A loss in New England would mean a win for Nooner's prediction, and one more test before the bye week.

This was surely the toughest test that the coin had faced. A rested Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills were in-town to battle Zach Wilson, who had been embarrassed by New England, and the rest of the New York Jets.

60 minutes of football later, and Nooner's perfect record remains intact.

Can New York Jets fans thank the flip of a coin for their team's hot start? No, probably not, but it's certainly fun to think about. Combine the team's commitment to their culture and growth on both sides of the ball, and sprinkle in a little bit of luck, and the New York Jets are 6-3 heading into their rest week.

Meanwhile, @noonernation is still a perfect 9-0.
