Capital Region ‘Hannaford’ Stores Recall Frozen Waffles Due to Listeria
A concerning outbreak of listeria has forced a local chain of supermarkets to initiate a recall.
Sources have confirmed that Hannaford stores across the Northeast have been forced to recall multiple brands of frozen waffles do a listeria outbreak. Other store chains are also dealing with similar frozen food recalls, per the report.
Hannaford Bros. Co. has store locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina.
Specific to Hannaford, be on the lookout for these store-brand frozen waffles:
- Hannaford chocolate chip waffles (UPC code: 04126819632)
- Hannaford homestyle waffles (UPC code: 04126819629)
- Hannaford multigrain waffles (UPC code: 04126819631)
- Hannaford blueberry waffles (UPC code: 04126819628)
- Hannaford buttermilk waffles (UPC code: 04126819630)
Other non-store brands have been added to the list of recalls in recent days. Keep an eye out for these:
- Kodiak Toaster Chocolate Chip Waffles (UPC code: 70559901320)
- Kodiak Cakes Power Waffles Buttermilk & Vanilla (UPC code: 70559901221)

Other toaster foods have been impacted by the outbreak, which originated at an Ontario-based factory run by TreeHouse Foods Inc.
Customers who bought the Hannaford-branded waffles between Jan. 1 and Oct. 18 are encouraged to return the product to the store. Customers who bought the Kodiak-branded waffles, meanwhile, can return the product if it was bought before Oct. 18.
Symptoms of listeriosis, the disease that manifests from exposure to listeria bacteria, include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. If the infection goes untreated, it can spread to your nervous system, causing headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions.
