New York Mets’ Radio Voice Describes Team’s Magical Run to October [LISTEN]
Just as we all predicted before the season, the New York Mets have advanced to the 2024 National League Championship Series.
Jokes aside, this season for the New York Mets has been nothing short of miraculous. On May 29, 2024, the Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 10-3. With the loss, New York fell to 22-33 on the season.
In the 8th inning of that game, Mets' reliever Jorge Lopez was ejected after a disagreement with the third base umpire. As he was walking off of the field, Lopez emphatically threw his glove into the stands in frustration, a move which drew the ire of Mets' fans everywhere.
Later, Lopez was asked about the incident in an interview, which prompted a bizarre response in which the Spanish-speaking Lopez stated he was either the worst teammate, or on the worst team, in Major League Baseball.
Despite issuing a clarification on social media, Lopez was cut from the Mets soon after. New York appeared to have hit rock-bottom just two months into the season, and fans were left searching for answers.
What happened next can only be described with one acronym: OMG.

Through an MVP-caliber performance from Francisco Lindor, the arrival of Jose "Candelita" Iglesias, and a perfect balance of luck, talent and fun, the Mets turned their season around.
After a 22-33 start, the Mets finished the rest of the season with a record of 67-40. As the season progressed, the team also developed a flare for the dramatic. A prime example of that came on the season's final day, when the team qualified for the playoffs in come-from-behind fashion against their division rival, Atlanta.
Thanks to the heroics of slugger Pete Alonso, the team was able to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Wild Card Series. In the NLDS, the hero was once again Lindor, as his Game 4 grand slam proved to be the difference-maker in the series, sending the Mets to the NLCS for the first time since 2015.
With New York now just four wins away from a trip to the World Series, we welcomed Mets' radio play-by-play voice Keith Raad back onto The Drive on Friday afternoon to discuss the team's magical run.
