New York Becomes First State to Add This to High School Lacrosse Games
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has made a major rule change ahead of the new school year, and they've done it before any other state in the country.
The state's governing body for public high school athletic teams, which goes by the acronym NYSPHSAA, announced on Monday that New York will become the first state association in the country to use shot clocks in girls and boys lacrosse.
Executive Director Dr. Robert Zayas posted this message on social media on Monday:
Notice the key word in this post: experiment. That would imply that this change is not yet permanent, and can be changed if it's met by negative reviews ain 2025.
For the time being, however, this change is here to stay.

Dr. Zayas has yet to respond to this question.

As noted by The Daily Sentinel in Rome, [t]he decision to proceed with potentially adding a shot clock passed by a 20-2 vote during NYSPHSAA executive committee meeting.
The change was made to increase pace of play across the state, while also removing officials’ discretion with the stalling rule, according to the source.
