The Leg Lamp and One Big BB Gun Dream Comes to Life in Cohoes
You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out, Cohoes!
Look, I love A Christmas Story, and I’d pay good money to see this on stage.
I mean, it’s no Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas, but it’s definitely a top 10 holiday movie of all time. And now, you can relive Ralphie’s Red Ryder BB gun dreams right here in the Capital Region.

A Christmas Story: The Musical is coming to Cohoes Music Hall, running December 3rd through 21st, 2025. It's 2 hours of straight-up holiday fun, plus a 15-minute intermission so you can grab some hot cocoa in between sets.
It’s the same heartwarming (and occasionally eye-endangering) tale we know and love, only this time, it’s got music, tap dancing, and all the nostalgic charm of a snow-globe holiday.
From the creators Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen), this production brings Jean Shepherd’s story to life with songs, laughs, and plenty of “Ovaltine”-soaked memories. Expect leg lamps, bunny suits, and maybe even a little soap punishment.
Critics have called it:
- “A happy theatre experience that should not be missed” – WAMC
- “The gift that keeps on giving” – Times Union
- “An endearing holiday spectacle” – Nippertown
Performances run from December 3rd to 21st at Cohoes Music Hall.
Members save 30% on tickets all season long.
