The Best City for Dating in America Isn’t NYC or LA — It’s in Upstate NY
Best City for Dating in America — Again
When you think of the best cities in America for dating, your mind probably goes straight to places like New York City, Los Angeles, or Miami. You know, big cities, big energy, big dating pools, and in theory, more attractive people.
But according to a new study from ConsumerAffairs.com, love might actually be easier to find right here in Upstate New York.

For the second year in a row, Rochester, NY, has been ranked the No. 1 city for dating in the entire country. And honestly… we didn't see this coming the first time around, let alone the second.
Props to Rochester
But, props to Rochester. The study analyzed the 110 largest U.S. cities, examining factors such as dating opportunities, cost of living, quality of life, and dating interest. And somehow, Rochester topped them all and, in the process, beat out cities like Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City.
What Makes Rochester Such a Hot Dating Spot?
For starters, the cost of living is much lower than the national average, with the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment sitting at just $912 a month. That means singles can actually afford to live and still have money left over for date night.
There’s also a huge dating pool, with nearly 57% of the population listed as single, plus tons of parks, bars, restaurants, and walkable areas that make meeting people easier.
Rounding out the top five best cities for dating were:
2. Pittsburgh, PA
3. Boston, MA
4. Minneapolis, MN
5. Cleveland, OH
Meanwhile, Buffalo cracked the Top 10, landing at No. 10 overall, which is another win for Upstate New York.
And no — before anyone asks — I will not be relocating to Rochester in search of love. But I'm not completely ruling it out, either.
