Popular Capital Region Burger Joint Closing Its Doors For Good
A locally owned burger joint has announced it will be closing permanently.
It seems every week lately we are passing along the news of another national retail or restaurant chain closing up shop in the Capital Region. TGI Friday's recently closed their last remaining Capital Region eateries, Red Lobster closed in Queensbury, and both LL Lumber and Big Lots announced local closings recently. This one hits a little close to home as a local, family-owned restaurant will call it a day.
Burger 21 In Latham Announces Permanent Closing
Burger 21 on Route 9 in Latham announced on their Facebook page yesterday they are permanently closing. Their last day open will be today (Wednesday, October 30th) from 11:30am to 8pm. The Stygles family, who ran Burger 21 for a decade, thanked their "dedicated staff" and "loyal customers." While they did not give a reason why Burger 21 will close, the family did say their "...passion for food lives on through our food trucks, Backroads Food Truck and The Coop Food Truck!"
Burger 21 is a local favorite (I LOVE their burgers!) and will be missed. The burger joint landscape locally is competitive with so many great options - so the Sygles family deserves a big tip of the cap for a great ten-year run. While we hate to see any business close, the silver lining here is the owners will still be doing business in the region.
