
Light Snow To Affect Monday Evening Commute In Capital Region
Winter in Upstate New York has started with a bang over the last few weeks, as cold temperatures and snow have had a strong and consistent presence across the Empire State.

While we have not received nearly as much snow as has fallen in Central and Western New York, we have been experiencing a steady stream of snow showers and smaller accumulations over the last week or so.
That snowy trend will continue for the first workday and school day back after a long holiday break.
News Channel 13 First Warning Forecast For Monday, January 5, 2026
According to New Channel 13, Monday will start quietly with just cloudy skies. Highs will reach the mid-20s, and around midday to early afternoon, snow showers will arrive, affecting the evening commute and any school activities. 2-4 inches of accumulation is expected in areas north of Route 20, with up to an inch in areas south.
After today, we can expect milder temperatures in the 40s to wrap the first work week of 2026.
