A Frying Pan Toss?

If you ever needed proof that Upstate New York knows how to have fun in the dead of winter, look no further than the Long Lake Winter Carnival.   One of the highlight events might also be the most interesting (and popular) competition of all time: the Ladies Frying Pan Toss.

The Form was Elite

There was tons of fun to be had in the heart of the Adirondacks; cardboard sled races, kids balloon chases, hockey challenges, and even a men’s keg toss.

But the frying-pan toss absolutely stole the show.  The form, the technique, the commitment; it was all elite.

The event had social media buzzing, with one commenter perfectly summing it up:
“I think these ladies have had it with cooking (that is the reason they toss these pans).”

Another added:
“Put a husband out there and watch how (far) they can throw it.”

We are not saying there was any pent-up frustration being unleashed… but we’re also not not saying that.

The video shows competitors giving it their all, launching frying pans downrange with impressive power, accuracy, and what can only be described as deep emotional motivation.

Peak Adirondack Energy

Where else do you find a winter carnival lineup that includes sled races, keg tosses, and a frying-pan-throwing contest?

Only in Upstate New York, where some turn cabin fever into a competitive sport.

We’re not sure who officially won the competition, but it’s probably safe to say any man in attendance who didn’t walk away with a frying-pan-shaped welt on his head felt like a winner, too.
