New York State Museum Is Getting A Massive Upgrade
I love museums. There's something about being able to walk down hallways and into rooms and be surrounded with history, art, and education. No matter the subject, from Modern Art to the life cycle of a snail, I'll be there.
In the heart of New York's Capital Region lies a museum all about the state, and it's finally about to get some much needed upgrades.

Why Are These Upgrades Taking Place?
As it stands, the New York State Museum is passable. It's a fun day trip to learn more about the state's history, and to occasionally take part in cool pop-up exhibits (like the Barbie™: A Cultural Icon exhibit).
The state wants to make it more accessible and family-friendly, however. This is why Governor Hochul set aside $150 Million for renovations and updates to the museum, but what will that money go towards?
Phase One of Renovations
There is a lot in store for the museum's upgrades, and Phase One, which is intended to start right away, is getting things started on the right foot.
- New Major Exhibits
- Four to six limited exhibits annually, covering a variety of topics about New York State and beyond.
- Dedicated Kids Zone

- The Café will Reopen
- This one's pretty self explanatory.
