Petersburgh Is Evacuating Citizens After Potential Gas Leak
Gas leaks are one of the most terrifying things you can live through. Typically odorless, these can seriously harm, or even kill you if you're not vigilant enough.
They're bad enough when just contained in your home, but can be disastrous when they spread across cities...

Petersburgh Gas Leak
At around 10:30a.m. on January 7th, the Taconic Plastics Plant in Petersburgh reported a possible gas leak in the facility. If true, it would have devastating effects on the surrounding area, so the Petersburgh Fire Department began ordering evacuations of everyone within a half-mile radius of the plant.
In order to contain the issue as much as possible, the power for the area was shut off, and evacuees were directed to the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center as a shelter with a working generator. The initial plan was to shut power off for around six hours until the issue could be resolved.
Cleaning Up the Area
Luckily, it took a lot less than six hours to correct the issue. Power was turned back on shortly after, but the area remained closed and the evacuation order still stood strong. It wasn't until around 1:30p.m. that the evacuation order was lifted.
Well, partially lifted. Residents on Coon Brook Rd. were told to continue the evacuation order, and as of 2:40p.m. it still has not been lifted. To all residents or those passing through Petersburgh, stay safe and alert in the area, and if something seems off, please make sure to contact the proper authorities immediately.
