A national chain that has been a Saratoga Springs mainstay for 20 years will be closing for good in late January.

As internet shopping has become the norm over the years, it is still disappointing to see brick-and-mortar stores go by the wayside. First and foremost jobs and livelihoods can be affected, and we never want to see business and commerce affected on a local level.

While certain shopping malls seem to have been more affected by these closures over the years, even experiential-based destinations have not been immune to the transition to online shopping.

Eddie Bauer has been known for years for their outdoorsy apparel and it is no surprise their Saratoga Springs location has had a great run of over 20 years selling clothing at its Broadway location. Unfortunately, that impressive run serving Upstate New Yorkers will come to an end later this month.

According to a Times Union story, the store's final day of operation will be Saturday, January 28th. No specific reason for the closing is known at this time and it does not seem any other store closings for the retailer are planned. Several local Eddie Bauer outlet locations remain in operation, including one at the Colonie Center in Albany and one in Lake George.
