Unimaginable Heartbreak

The SUNY Cobleskill community is heartbroken today following the tragic traffic accident that claimed the life of a college student. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, classmates, professors, and everyone grappling with this unimaginable heartbreak.

According to a college representative, the accident happened on the main state route that passes through campus. With the family’s permission, the college confirmed her passing and shared resources for those who are grieving.

Student Has Been Identified as Ashlee Reeves

The Mountain Eagle and Schoharie News reports that Ashlee Reeves, a student attending the State University of New York Cobleskill Agriculture & Tech, died Saturday following a pedestrian-car accident on State Route 7.

In a statement released earlier today, SUNY Cobleskill emphasized that counselors, professional staff, and members of Student Development are available to support students during this devastating time.

Gathering This Evening

According to the Mountain Eagle, a gathering will take place tonight at 5:30 p.m. in Draper Hall, where students can come together, share space, speak with counselors, or be in the presence of others who are navigating similar grief.

Messages of love, sorrow, and solidarity have poured in from across the region. Many are expressing not just condolences for the Reeves family, but also compassion for classmates, friends, and even the driver involved — all of whom have been touched in different ways by this tragedy.

Others in the community have voiced concerns about the campus's safety, noting that the college is situated on a state highway and has long needed additional security measures.

Tonight, and in the difficult days ahead, we hope the Cobleskill community finds strength in one another and that Ashlee be remembered with the warmth, respect, and love she deserves.
