Upstate New Yorker Performs on Country Music’s Most Iconic Stage
Rotterdam's David J On Country Music's Most Iconic Stage
A big shout-out and congratulations go to our good friend and Rotterdam native David J, who is doing things in the country music industry that a young singer/songwriter can only dream of.
And on Saturday night, he lived out a dream while playing in front of his family and friends - plus a slew of country music fans- performing on Nashville's biggest and most prestigious stage: The Grand Ole Opry.
Performing Since Age 14
David J has been performing gigs regularly since he was about 14 years old, and now, at the ripe age of 20, he'll be the first to say that much of his early success has been a bit surreal.
The pop/country singer from Rotterdam had been on music fans' radars in the Capital Region—and beyond—for years as he independently released music and played shows in the area.
Last summer, he took a giant leap in the industry when he signed on with a major record label. This was a game-changer for the Rotterdam native, who moved to Nashville last year to enhance his already blossoming career further.
And on Saturday night, he lived out a dream while performing on the same stage that country stars have been gracing for nearly 100 years, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
What's the Grand Ole Opry?
The Grand Ole Opry features today’s country music stars, superstars, and rising stars on one stage weekly in Nashville, TN—Music City, USA—and playing there is a dream come true for country stars.
Their world-famous stage is where aspiring stars hope to one day perform, and music lovers connect with their favorite artists up close at the Opry House.
Describes as country music's biggest stage, The Opry has evolved from the radio show that made it famous in 1925 to the cultural landmark and global phenomenon it is today.
David will be back in the Capital Region on Saturday, October 12, performing live for hometown fans at Wishfest 2024 on Bridge Street in Amsterdam.
