Upstate New Yorkers-Save Lives & Scoop Up Something Sweet
There are plenty of reasons why Stewart's Shops is a favorite across Upstate New York. They are known for supporting local communities, and one of their most popular annual traditions is back this June.
How Does It Work?
Stewart's has once again partnered with the American Red Cross for the 11th annual "Give a Pint, Get a Pint" campaign. Anyone who donates blood at a participating Red Cross blood drive in one of the 26 counties served by Stewart's will receive a coupon for a free pint of Stewart's ice cream or gelato.
The sweet reward is just a bonus. Since the campaign launched in 2016, it has helped collect more than 104,000 blood donations from nearly 61,000 donors.
Why Does This Campaign Start Now?
The program is especially important during the summer months. While donations often slow down, the need for blood never does.
Red Cross officials say hospitals depend on blood donations every day to help accident victims, cancer patients, surgery patients, and others. Across the country, someone needs blood every two seconds.
It's A Meaningful Tradition
Since the partnership began, thousands of people have rolled up their sleeves and helped provide lifesaving blood products to patients in need.
Stewart's says the campaign has become one of its most meaningful traditions because it combines community spirit with a cause that truly matters.
Company leaders also point out that while summer schedules get busy, the need for blood does not take a vacation. If a free pint of ice cream encourages someone to donate, it is a simple way to make a big difference.
