2015 is looking like the Nerd singularity, when we'll see such films as 'The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron,' 'Jurassic World,' 'The Fantastic Four,' 'Batman Vs. Superman,' 'Terminator 5,' 'Ant-Man,' the new James Bond, 'Warcraft' and 'Star Wars: Episode 7' all hitting the big screen. But one big title has decided to hold off until 2016: 'Independence Day 2.'

Roland Emmerich may be on his press tour for 'White House Down,' but he can't stop talking about ‘Independence Day 2.’ He already broke the news that Will Smith won't be returning, but now for some good news: Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman will be back to battle aliens.

Will Smith protecting the earth from aliens seems like a no-brainer, but not so fast, says director Roland Emmerich -- it looks like the summer blockbuster star won't be returning for 'Independence Day 2.'

Fox has begun slot-calling their summer schedule for the next two years, which makes them conservative compared to Marvel and Sony. 'Independence Day 2' has officially been dated for July 3, 2015, among other changes and updates to their schedule.

This Fourth of July, Albany's Empire State Plaza was packed to the brim with local residents who came out to celebrate our country's birthday and independence.
