Pauly's Hotel is one of Albany's oldest taverns. It has been in existence since 1862 and has been completely overhauled and refurbished. It has always had live bands and shows but has gone downhill over the past fifteen to twenty years. Now with a new owner, that is all changing for the better.

Capital Region rockers Frozen Sun stopped by the Q studios to talk a about their new record that comes out this Friday!

I, like most, believe in supporting the local music scene of any town. Bands in every town are the future of music. Remember that almost every band you hear on the radio were once a local band playing covers in a dive bar for next to no money just trying to catch a break. Every-so-often we at Q103 get asked what it takes to get a band's music on the radio. Though there is no real simple answer for

The Q103 Q-Ruption is the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival and it pulls into the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in less than a month on September 1st. Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind, Papa Roach, Adelita's Way and many others will be performing on 3 stages. A unsigned local band will also play the Q-Ruption stage but they will have to battle it out. The only rock festival this summer is The Q103 Q-Ruption August 19th at SPAC.  Starring Godsmack, Five Finger Death Punch, Skillet, Sick Puppies, Egypt Central and one local band to open the show.  For the past month, we solicited for the best local bands in the Capital Region. The finalists have been selected to Play for the Stage at Savannahs.  Who made it through.

The weekly Rockin' On The River concert series continues tonight with a performance from local heroes Hair of The Dog. If you've never seen Hair of The Dog, you really need to head over to Troy because they are one of the favorites in the Albany local band scene!

If there is one thing that we aren't short of in this area, it's Local Music!  Being that we are out all the time at local shows and bars and even big gigs, I have been able to catch a lot of bands so of course I have my favorites.
