Admit it - you've looked at those handicapped spots in the parking lot on a hot or cold day with a slight feeling of envy. Let's face it - we'd all love to have one of those spots BUT they do serve a purpose and are there for those who really need them. Of all people you'd think an employee at the NY Department of Health would have a special understanding of that. Nope - not the case.

The City of Albany has been dealing with parking issues for years. Now, the Albany Common Council has agreed on a permit system to help residents more easily park near their homes.

How many times has this happened to you?  You are driving down a street, late for an appointment and looking for a parking space, when suddenly you see a spot.  You quickly parallel park and notice there is a parking meter that only takes quarters with 5 minutes left on it.

While I was in Troy recently, I drove around the block where a store I go to was located, about 5 times looking and hoping for someone to pull out and leave an opening I could get into. If I had this app before I got to the street the store I visit was on, I could have known where to park before I got there and saved myself a trip around the block.

The Capital Region seems to love the Red Lobster on Wolf road.  If you are going there, expect a long wait both to sit down and eat, and find a parking spot.
