Levon Helm lost his battle with cancer earlier this week.  He was one of the most influential figures in music, and The Black Keys decided to team up with John Fogerty and do one awesome tribute to him at Coachella.

The loss of vocalist Ronnie James Dio to stomach cancer in 2010 still stings the hearts of metal fans, including that of the mighty Metallica. The band plans to be involved in the upcoming Dio ribute album, which will also feature Anthrax, Rob Halford and more. It turns out that Metallica even contacted Dio’s widow directly in order to get the ball rolling on their participation.

The death of ‘America’s Oldest Teenager’ Dick Clark has resulted in many tributes from rockers of all genres. Perhaps the most in-depth and heartwarming one however, comes from the desk of Alice Cooper.

Last weekend the music world got the sad news that Whitney Houston had passed away.  No matter what genre of music you like, you heard Whitney's songs.  Soundgarden and former Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has always had a very eclectic style, and at a rally for President Obama this week he did a fantastic acoustic tribute to the late singer.

It has been a week since Apple founder Steve Jobs passed away at age 56 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.  Many musicians and entertainers took to social media posting their thoughts.  Dream Theater keyboard player Jordan Russ created a musical tribute on a iPad using MorphWiz, along with the Korg Kronos.  Dream Theater will be in Albany Saturday night.

Yesterday in Wales musicians from all over gathered to pay tribute to the late King of Pop, and his children made an appearance as well wearing the cloths that their dad was known for.

It was a mini Guns N Roses reunion, the only person missing was Axl! Slash performed with former GNR members, Matt Sorum, Duff McKagan and Gilby Clarke, as well as Wayne Kramer and more, at a benefit show to support 'Road Recovery'.

They were among the bands that ruled the Los Angeles hair-metal scene in the 1980s. And on Aug. 29, they’ll join forces on the legendary Sunset Strip to honor one of their own. Quiet Riot, Great White, LA Guns, Enuff Z’Nuff and Slammin’ Gladys are the featured acts for the free, all-ages tribute concert in memory of late Warrant singer Jani Lane at the Key Club in West Hollywood.

Slipknot returned to the stage this past Friday. An empty costume and bass of Paul Grey was on stage with them at the Sonisphere Festival.   It was a emotional return as Corey Taylor said "Will you celebrate with us"

No one loves the troops more than musicians and artists.   Over the years bands have performed over seas for them time and again.  These are just a few of my favorite videos dedicated to our men and women in uniform.

It was one year ago today, when Slipknot bass player Paul "The Pig" Grey or number 2 died from a drug overdose at age 38 in Des Moines Iowa.

Yesterday Mrozek posted about the anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death. It was an incredibly thoughtful post that sparked a lot of insight from listeners. Today, I came across an article about Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars paying tribute to Cobain in his video.
