The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival has been around since 1897 and is the longest-running winter carnival in the eastern part of the country. The Ice Palace is being built by many volunteers and is almost complete. The Official Lighting and opening fireworks happen on February 5th at 7 pm. The centerpiece of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is the Ice Palace, built by volunteers on the shore of Lake Flower's Pontiac Bay at the state boat launch.
