Having a flight either being delayed or diverted over someone's poor choices can really suck. In this particular case, the passenger in question didn't even make it on to the flight to begin with. It was what he was allegedly carrying that alerted officials.

The Hour reports that the man was traveling our of Westchester County Airport when he was stopped by Transportation Security Administration officials Tuesday. As the man placed his items through the airport's X-ray machine, an official noticed a  40-caliber handgun on the monitor. Once reported, the Westchester County Sherriff's Office responded, and placed the suspect under arrest after being detained,

While not too many details are available at this time on the suspect or the situation, the federal security director for Westchester County Airport reminded the public in a statement:

I can assure you that the civil penalty will be costly. If you own a firearm, pack it correctly for transport in checked baggage or leave it at home.
