The city of Albany and Mayor Jerry Jennings present the 63rd annual Tulip Fest, which is set in Albany's Washington Park, is just around the corner! It will take place May 7-8, and will feature a trio of bands, along with blossoms of tulips everywhere.

If you've never attended a Tulip Fest, it's really cool and a lot of fun. There are food vendors, over 100 arts and crafts vendors, activities and entertainment for children and for adults, along with beautiful scenery, tons of tulips and water fountains. Added for this year are a Fine Art Show and an interactive KidZone. The crowning of the Tulip Queen will also take place on May 7.  The only things that will make it better is a warm sunny day!

I haven't been able to go for the past few years because of work, but I use to go every year with my sister and dad when we were little. The thing I remember most is our dad would always gets us these pretty wooden tulips each year, and after a few years we each had a full bouquet of tulips, each different colors. I still have a few of them to this day.

Each year there are a couple musical acts that take place on on of the dates. This year, bands Cold War Kids, The Sam Roberts Bandand David Mangan will be performing on three stages on May 7.

On Mother's Day Sunday, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Tribute Marrakesh Express will be playing.

It seems like this year's Fest will be full of fun and entertainment. If you're able to go, gather your family and friends and pick a day that works for you.
