$37,000 in Counterfeit Bills Found In Latham
I will never understand why people that are doing something illegal don't make sure their cars are in tip-top shape. Think about it...how many stories do you hear about a huge drug bust because of a broken taillight or a van full of stolen stereos are discovered because of an expired license plate? It happens all the time...if I was trying to do something illegal the first thing I would do is make sure I'm not going to get pulled over for something small like a broken taillight or expired tags.
Well, it's happened again. This time it's thousands of dollars of counterfeit 100 dollar bills.
State Police in Latham busted Ali Sherone with about $37,000 in counterfeit money. Police stopped Sherone for a broken headlight. See....a broken headlight and this criminal mastermind was foiled! Cops also smelled weed so they searched the vehicle.
They found counterfeit one hundred dollar bills in the center console and in a backpack. He was changed with criminal possession of a forged instrument and was released on a ticket to appear in court. There's no word if he was attempting to purchase stuff with the fake money.
