Once the biggest eyesore in the Capital Region is demolished what should the City of Albany do with that location?

If there is one thing that everyone in Albany can agree on it's that the Central Warehouse needs to go. The thing has been literally falling apart and the time has finally come to say goodbye to this pile of trash.

About a month ago it was still up in the air as to when it was actually going to be demolished, but now we know that it is 100% happening - we just don't have an exact date. Just a couple weeks ago we finally got some closure from the Governor who said the state will provide funds to get rid of Central Warehouse.

The total cost is going to be around $13 million. Not exactly cheap. That means that once it is all said an done we will need to find a way for Albany to make some money on that location.

To me it is a prime piece of real estate. It's just off the highway and easy for people to get to. Plus it is also right near the River. I had jokingly said that they could put a Raising Cane's Chicken there. While I haven't officially changed my mind on that, I think we need to be more realistic.

What Should Go In The Central Warehouse Location?

You guys provided a lot of great feedback to that question and some of the ideas you said didn't even cross my mind.

"Sound stage or film studio" - Brandon

"A dog park" - Lisamarie

"Rage room" - Dave

"Multi use facility with some type of cafeteria/ food stalls ran by different vendors on the bottom, adult bounce house on one floor, go karts on another, fine dining restaurant on another etc and a roof top bar" - Adam

All of these are solid ideas for the property. Personally I think the people in the downtown Albany area could use a grocery store. There isn't a very accessible one in that area, but that spot could be a great location and solution for that.
