The annual Fourth of July celebration at Albany's Empire State Plaza ended with chaos on Friday night. Violence led to a fire outbreak at a home off of Madison Avenue. That fire has now led to the building next door, The Madison Grill, being torn down.

Great job by first responders who jumped into action to make sure that everyone was safe. No injuries were reported as a result of that fire, but now the rebuilding process has to begin for many who lost their place to live because of that senseless event that took place.

The cause of the fire was determined to caused by a flare gun that was fired into the home. There was also a shooting that took place there as well. All of this happening while thousands enjoyed the fireworks display going on at the Plaza.

While no one was hurt, the damage has been done. A GoFundMe has been launched to help some of the victims cover the cost of losing everything.

The massive fire engulfed and damaged almost all my property in the apartment. The entire building structure had to demolished due to safety concerns. Yet I am grateful to be alive today.

As of Monday afternoon the fundraiser has over $1,400 in donations from around the community. The person who organized this is someone named Niki, who said she has to cover the cost of the losses all on her own .It is incredible to see people in the community stepping up.

This is the type of tragedy that can hopefully be avoided in the future. While authorities are still investigating, we hope whoever is responsible is brought to justice.
