Albany Medical Center Announces Vaccination Requirement For Employees

We all knew that it was coming, and now it has begun, the vaccine mandate list is growing to include the Albany Medical Center.

Last week we heard that vaccine mandates were going into effect for indoor dining and other activities in New York City. Today the Albany Medical Center announced that they would require all employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Many states around the country are taking a big step in requiring their employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The state of New York recently announced that they would require all state employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Labor Day or they must undergo weekly testing. Now the Albany Medical Center is making a similar announcement.

Employees working in the medical field have had access to COVID-19 vaccines since December 2020. Like people in other professions throughout the country, many healthcare workers have been hesitant to take the shots, but they may no longer have the option.

Saint Peter’s Health Partners already announced that they will require employees to be vaccinated, now the Albany Medical Center has taken the same step. Hospital officials say that their employees must be vaccinated by October 1 or face consequences.

The hospital has reported that more than 80% of their employees are already vaccinated, but that is not enough. They say that all employees must prove that they have been vaccinated by October 1, or they will be “terminated from the organization”.

If you look around you will see that masks are being required again in many places. I’m sure that the list of employers who require vaccines will grow quickly in the days to come.
