According to police, the woman managed to chase the man away. They are still searching for the suspect.

The Albany Police posted on Facebook this morning about an attempted robbery that took place this morning near the 100 block on Sheridan Ave. The 100 block Sheridan Ave is located between Washington and Clinton, north of the State Capitol building.

According to their statement, a woman was approached from behind by a man who told her she was being robbed.

She was armed with pepper spray and managed to force the would-be robber to retreat by spraying him in the face. Luckily, she was not injured in the incident and was able to contact police immediately.

Police are still looking for the man and are asking that anyone with information about the robbery please come forward and give an anonymous tip.  See more details about the suspect and contact information for the police tip line below.
