There seems to be a major shift in the way that people are shopping for products in 2025. I think that the pandemic triggered a new way of ordering online that has almost killed the physical retail industry and another popular store is joining the many that have already closed in 2025.

At Home announced they officially filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and would also be closing 26 stores in the process of restructuring.

Looks Inside At Home

The Capital Region is fortunate to have an At Home location in Crossgates Commons in Albany and it is a massive place. You can get lost inside of these At Home stores and you could find literally anything under the sun when it comes to decorating.

One thing that At Home has a huge variety on is their holiday selections. Many flock to them around Halloween to see what unique items they have on the shelf. They also equally carry a great amount for other holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I've found myself in At Home and walking out with items I didn't even know would catch my eye. I really hope that the Albany location survives the cut because as of right now, according to USA Today, it is not on the list of 26 stores. However there are other New York locations on it.

It's good to see that the Capital Region's location is not on the chopping block - at least not yet. When it comes to these types of filing sometimes more closures follow the initial announcement. We will keep you posted.

After so many closings were announced in 2024, several more national and regional retail and bank chains have revealed New York locations will close in 2025.
