Anne Rice’s ‘Vampire Chronicles’ Series Picked Up by Hulu
After Josh Boone’s plans for a new Vampire Chronicles film adaptation (possibly starring Jared Leto) fell through, Paramount and Anne Rice decided to take the author’s beloved novel franchise to the small screen. Last year, the studio announced that it had optioned the rights to Rice’s 11-book collection for a new TV series, which has been officially picked up by Hulu.
Neill Blomkamp Is Directing a New ‘RoboCop’ Movie (Yes, There’s Another One)
It’s only been four years since Sony’s attempt to reboot RoboCop with Joel Kinnaman as the cop-turned-crime-fighting-cyborg — though you’d be forgiven if you’ve already forgotten the bland remake of Paul Verhoeven’s satirical 1987 sci-fi classic. That might be an advantage for MGM, which is plotting a new RoboCop movie with District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp at the helm.

Quentin Tarantino’s Next Film Gets an Official Title, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio to Star
After months of speculation and reports on casting possibilities (and likelihoods, to be honest), Quentin Tarantino’s next film — his ninth, and his first without the Weinstein Co. — has an official title and a pair of stars. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio have signed on to headline the project, which is titled Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
‘IT’ Review: The Latest Stephen King Adaptation Is Scary Good – And Surprisingly Funny
Stephen King adaptations are a dime a dozen these days (almost literally; rights to his books are famously cheap), but a good Stephen King adaptation, like a properly cooked steak or a movie where Harrison Ford is actually awake, is exceedingly rare. Of the two adaptations of beloved King novels released this year, the idea that IT might be the superior of the pair seemed laughable a few months ago. IT is better than The Dark Tower in every conceivable way, but beyond the inevitable comparison, it’s just really good. Scary good, even.
Don Rickles, Iconic Comedian and Actor, Dead at 90
Don Rickles’ talents were seemingly limitless: An outrageous insult comic, a gifted dramatic actor, a welcome sight on stages and screens (big and small), and a constant presence whose career endured for decades, often surpassing his contemporaries. And now he’s gone on to join them, as the legendary Rickles passed away today, April 6, at the age of 90.
Zack Snyder Talks ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Surprise Ending, Assembling the Justice League
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice smashed box office records over the weekend, and while we wait for the dust to settle to see just how successful it will become, Zack Snyder has been opening up about a few key moments in the film. The divisive superhero epic offered a few cameos and surprises (and one very surprising cameo), including an ending that left some audience members shocked. It’s that particular plot development that Snyder addresses in his latest interview, which sheds some light on his future Justice League plans. Spoilers ahead!
‘Batman vs. Superman’ Will Get the R-Rated Treatment on DVD and Blu-ray
Thanks, Deadpool! As predicted by many (including Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn), it looks like studios are already taking the wrong lesson from the record-breaking, R-rated superhero film. While Fox has already given the green light to an R-rated Wolverine sequel, Warner Bros. is getting a jump start on their own edgier superhero offerings, as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will have an R-rated alternate version when the film hits DVD and Blu-ray.
Rumor: New ‘Saw’ Sequel on the Way From the Writers of ‘Piranha 3D’
Rumors have persisted for years that Lionsgate wasn’t quite done with the Saw franchise — even though the last sequel was titled Saw 3D: The Final Chapter. But titles are meaningless as long as there’s money to be made, and with that pesky Paranormal Activity franchise out of the way (for now), it looks like Lionsgate is reviving the franchise that introduced us to James Wan, Jigsaw and a multi-film timeline so convoluted it would give Quentin Tarantino the spins.
