Bard and Baker has been a common place in Troy for my two teenage kids to go to and play games with their friends.

The Troy location at 1038 Madison Ave has been there three years and offers an extensive selection of board games you might not find anywhere else. These games aren't all for sale, although some are, these are games to be played while you enjoy some food, and coffee while you play. At Bard & Baker, you pick out a game you'd like to play and pay a small fee for unlimited play. It's a great opportunity to try out games before you buy them to play at home. Most of the games aren't like Monopoly and Life....these are mostly more in-depth games like Settlers of Catan, Ticket To Ride, or Pandemic.

My family loves these kinds of complex games so my kids usually try out new ones at Bard & Bakers before we buy them for the house.

Now, there's a second location getting ready to open in Albany next month. The new location is next to the Madison Theatre in the Pine Hills neighborhood. Currently, Brewtus Roasting is occupying the current storefront. After the new Bard and Baker location opens in the space they will still continue to serve Brewtus Roasting coffee.

According to the Times Union, the new location won't have a full kitchen like the original Troy location, but they will still have pastries and finger food.

Projected hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday.
