Recently USA Today ranked the 10 Best Amphitheaters in America. First, what exactly is an amphitheater? According to Merriam-Webster amphitheater is defines as:   an oval or circular building with rising tiers of seats ranged about an open space and used in ancient Rome especially for contests and spectacles.

The 2 amphitheaters close to the Capital Region are known around the world. One of them held arguable the most famous concert of all-time before an amphitheater existed at this location.
