Take a look at the video below. An Averill Park, NY family had quite the surprise over the weekend when they discovered it was a big black bear making some noises just outside their front door.

Black bear sightings in New York State are not uncommon, especially in the spring months when bears come out of hibernation and are looking for food. One thing none of us are prepared for is a bear on our front porch! What was he after? A Hello Fresh food delivery?

According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), bears are likely to seek out human food sources, garbage, messy grills, bird food and YES food deliveries. During the spring and summer months, natural food sources may be scarce.

We were just watching a movie and I noticed my security light was on. That's when I checked my doorbell camera and saw the bear on our porch! We've seen a few black bears on our property from time to time but we've never had one outside our front door. We don't have any regular bird feeders because we know bears are attracted to them. We didn't think they would be interested in our Hummingbird feeder. - Steve K.
