Busy Friday for Capital Region Boys & Girls High School Hoops
The one of the best things for high school student-athletes is getting to compete for your school against the next town over or a long-time rival. Numerous times, athletes from different schools have talked to me about their moms and dads competing against those same schools and therefore passing down the rivalry. Friday night, we start to get into the meat of the high school basketball season with plenty of those rivalries on local courts.
We can't list every game but we'll highlight some. We have to start with Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk because some of their parents wrote in and asked to be included in the 104.5 The Team high school recaps, so here you go! Both the boys and the girls from RCS will take on Voorheesville, while their big neighbors Guilderland and Bethlehem will battle on their respective courts. Another fun big school match up or match ups tonight will feature Troy and Colonie. The Troy boys will travel to Colonie, while the girls will host the Raiders on the Flying Horses home floor.
The Niskayuna boys will host a powerful Shenendahowa team, while the girls will travel to Shen. Albany and Burnt Hills boys and girls will tip off tonight in what should be two interesting games, while Greenwich and Cambridge will stoke their rivalry. The Averill Park boys will host Ballston Spa while the AP girls will travel to the Scotties.
Another big school match up will feature Schenectady battling Saratoga, while rivalries like Salem and Argyle will heat up the floors of some of the smaller schools. In boys basketball CBA will face Columbia tonight at Columbia. If you are looking for your high school game, you can go to your school's website or check schedulegalaxy.com. Again, please feel free to message me @charlievoelker for any teams that you would like to see included. Good luck to all of the student-athletes.
