Can The New York Mets Stay Hot For Their Home Opening Series?
The New York Mets currently hold the best record in all of Major League Baseball. Now let's not get too far ahead of ourselves as it is early in the season and the Mets are only 5-2. I don't want everyone to start drinking the Kool Aid, but it is great to see the Mets playing well despite having a few injuries in the starting rotation. If the offense continues to hit, than I think they can win the NL East this year. Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:
Chris Bassitt will start the home opener for the New York Mets on Friday against the Diamondbacks, and I expect more of the same. Mets starters are 5-0 this season with an ERA of 1.29, and Jacob deGrom whose out for at least a month, has not thrown a pitch yet. Max Scherzer is not a surprise, because he’s one of the best pitchers in the entire MLB. But David Peterson and Tylor Megill have really pitched well, and the Mets are 5-2 to start the season. Manager Buck Showalter pushes a lot of right buttons, another reason why the Mets’ should compete for the NL East title along with the Atlanta Braves.
MJ and I had Tim Kurkjian on earlier today here on Big Board Sports and we talked everything in the MLB including the red hot Mets. Below is our full interview with him.
I think it is great for baseball if the Mets and Yankees are both successful and 2022 should be one of those years. The Mets are in action for their home opener right now on Tom Seaver day.
