It's been months since the Capital City Diner in Guilderland closed for renovations, but they're back open and ready to serve up some great food!

If you're like me and were sad to see the announcement that the Capital City Diner was going to be closed for a large chunk of time for renovations you can now dry your tears because they're officially back open. They officially unveiled their new look on November 4th for their adoring public who were eager to get back in and start supporting one of their favorite local spots.

When I drove past the diner on Monday night the place was packed and the lobby was full of people waiting for a table. They had closed back in June so I can understand people wanting to get back in there. This place serves my favorite Reuban in the entire Capital Region.

My kids call this "Grandma's diner" because my mother is basically a regular there and treated us to breakfast lunch and dinner more times than I can count.

I tried to go yesterday but the place was packed so I think I will have to wait to get in there until things settle down a bit more. Not that it's a bad thing. It's a good thing to see so much support for a place that's been serving us for years. I am all for that.

I love the new colors and updated look for the "shiny diner" that still maintains that classic diner charm.

The wait is over so get back in there and eat some great food!

The Only 24/7 Diners Left In New York State

Unbelievably, there are only a handful of diners still around in Upstate New York that are open 24 hours a day.
