I feel like getting your car stolen is quite a bit more difficult now compared to 20-30 plus years ago. But it does happen. Here is the Capital Region town it is most likely not to happen in.

If you didn't know, July is National Vehicle Theft Prevention month. I didn't even know that was a thing. I could maybe see devoting a solid day, or maybe even a week to it, but a complete month. I still will look around when I park at Stewart's on my way into work and think, will that person steal my ride? Now, don't get me wrong, it isn't a crippling fear in my book. But I always am cognizant.

I would be a lot less inclined to let fear even to begin to sink in if I lived in Glens Falls. After all they are considered to be one of the safest areas to own a vehicle in not just the state but the country.

New York as a state ranks pretty high on the safe to own a car list also. More info from News 10 ABC here.
