Upstate New York Set To Get Another Costco

When it rains it pours! Costco is really expanding their footprint in New York State and have announced that another location will soon be opening up in the Empire State. Currently the majority of operational Costco stores are located in the New York City area, but not for much longer.

Albany Costco Opening Soon

Albany's highly anticipated Costco location has been a long time coming. We are on the last couple of weeks before it is scheduled to open up on August 6th. People have ben so excited for this that they've been lining up in Crossgates to get early membership access to the location so they're ready to go come opening day. Those hot dogs aren't going to eat themselves.

Albany isn't the only spot to be getting a new Costco in New York in 2026. The Amherst, NY location is also opening later this year. They are estimating it will be open there by October. That's very exciting for Western New York. It also appears that area will now be home to another Costco.

West Seneca New York looks to be the next place for a new Costco location. It will be in the former Seneca Mall. That mall closed in 1994 and finally over 30 years later there will be a future for that sight.

West Seneca Supervisor Gary Dickson said,

West Seneca has waited for this for decades. I appreciate everyone's patience, but there is still a lot of work to do. The plans will probably be further refined as the project moves forward. In addition to the site itself, the surrounding road network will be significantly upgraded by the developer.

Costco isn't stopping there, either. They're doing some major expanding in 2026 with 26 new locations set to open from Texas to New York. They're certainly ambitious, but everyone is ready to welcome Costco with open arms.
