Craving Fair Food, Without The Fair? Check Out Fair Food Fest
Are you craving fair food, even though all the local fairs and the state fare have all been canceled? Sometimes you just need some cotton candy, a funnel cake, and some kinda meat on a stick.
Well, the Altamont Fair Grounds is doing something to satisfy your fair food craving....while also complying with all social distancing and coronavirus health guidelines. They are having Fair Food Fests every weekend in July.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in July the Altamont Fair Grounds will be turned into a huge drive-thru fair food restaurant offering different fair foods each weekend. The hours for the Fair Food Fests are Friday 4-8 pm, Saturday 12-7 pm, Sunday 12-6 pm. Rain or shine.
Here's how the Fair Food Fest works. Enter the Fairgrounds from Rt 146 and Arlington St. at the big Altamont Fair sign that says "Entrance". Follow the barriers up thru Gate 2. Look for signage and barrels to guide you. When you reach the food booths, you will use two lanes: use the left lane to pass by the food booth, right lane to order your fair food. Entry into the Fair Food Fest is free.
All the vendors will be on the right to take your order, your payment, and then deliver it to you in your vehicle. You don't even have to leave your vehicle. The Fair Food Fest does ask you to wear a mask, except when eating.
