With all the things we have to offer in the Capital Region are these activities really the most overrated?

Have you ever had someone talk about doing something so much that when you finally get to experience it for yourself the hype is not met? I know that I have and it leaves with such a disappointing feeling.

The real question is - is it really overrated or did it just not live up to my expectations? For me, I think it is more on the expectations side. I am sure that other people would enjoy this more than me but my own brain is what betrays me.

Living in the Capital Region we have a lot of people who are very passionate about what they love. Their hobbies become a major part of their identity. So which activities do the people of the Capital Region feel are the most overrated?

The overwhelming answer we got from Facebook was Pickleball. I will say, I have never played pickleball and I have no idea how to play it but plenty of people seem to enjoy it. Is it that you think it's overrated or you don't understand it?

For me, my personal pick for overrated is leaf peeping. I do not understand going around looking at the leaves changing colors. We see it every single year. Stop this.

Here are some of the answers you guys gave:

  • Chowderfest
  • The Saratoga Race Track
  • SPAC
  • Apple picking
  • Hiking
  • Fourth of July fireworks at the Plaza
