Get Your ATV Off The Streets Of Albany Or Go To Jail
Get your illegal dirt bike and ATV off the streets of Albany! First off you don't know how to ride that machine. Second of all, it's ILLEGAL! Seriously, what's it going to take? A bigger fine? Jail time? What if the bike/ATV was just destroyed? Scrapped!
According to News10 ABC, starting Wednesday, if you hit the streets of Albany with your illegal bike or ATV you stand the chance of up to $3,000 in fines, which you can pay after you serve 2 weeks in jail. Of course the bike/ATV will be impounded until it's claimed. If it's not claimed it will be sold for scrap metal.
2 months ago Schenectady City Councilwoman Karen Zalewski-Wildzunas stated that she wanted to put an end to the riding of ATV's and dirt bikes on city streets. Last month I wrote a story about Albany's attempt to crack down on the dirt bikes and ATV's that race around the streets of the Capital City.
Accidents are happening, people are getting injured and it isn't just good clean fun. ABC10 says, the Albany Police Department has arrested several people for reckless driving. In separate reckless driving incidents, two police officers were hurt. Police took a number of illegal bikes off the road.
