Glamping In New York Rated Among The Best In The World
Believe it or not Spring begins this Saturday! That makes me think of busting out of the house! Breaking this cabin fever and getting in the car with the family and going for a long drive. Who knows where we will end up?
If we go far enough we will need to stay overnight and my girlfriend will want a hotel. BORING! Camping would be cool but she might not go for that unless it's "glamping" and it just so happens that we have 2 of the coolest glamping sites in the world right here in New York.
There is a travel site called boundlessroads.com and recently they listed the "coolest glamping spots in the world" and New York made the list! Twice!
Catskill Domeo is about an hour south of Albany in Windham, NY. Before you go you should know this is not located in the woods. This dome is actually on someone's private property. There is a ton of hiking, biking and waterfalls nearby and Woodstock in about 45 minutes from this site.
Pros
- Accommodates up to 4 people
- TV
- Internet
- Electricity
- Hot water
- DVD player
Cons
- No pets allowed
- Shoes aren't allowed inside this dome
- No cooking inside dome
Geo Dome at the Outlier Inn seems to be more for me but a little further away at 2 hours from the Capital Region in Woodridge, NY. Set on a 12-acre farm in the Catskill mountains near Bethel Woods. Love that they have sheep, goats, alpacas, and chickens on the property.
Pros:
- A claw foot bathtub
- Outdoor double hot showers
- Complete outdoor kitchen
- Grill
- Big fire pit
- High-speed internet
Cons:
- Only 1 full bed
- Additional guests must bring air mattresses
I've never tried glamping but if that's what it takes to get my girl to go camping, count me in and apparently we have the best in the world right here in New York!
