Beloved Capital Region Restaurant Reopens After Devastating Fire
I think we all remember where we were in January of 2024 when we got the news. A fire had broken out at Hot Dog Charlie's on Saratoga Street in Cohoes. The result of that fire was a devastating total loss of the beloved hot dog spot that had been open there since 1964. It was a crushing blow to all of us loyal Hot Dog Charlie's fans across the Capital Region.
Having been a big part of Capital Region food for over 100 years, Hot Dog Charlie's is a staple for us. The Cohoes location being destroyed in the fire left just two remaining Hot Dog Charlie's spots to go to. One in Rensselaer and in the other Lansingburgh.
Friday was not only the Fourth of July and cause for celebrating America's birthday. It will now forever be the day that we learned that Hot Dog Charlie's in Cohoes was going to reopen on Monday July 7th. What glorious news this was to get.
They broke the news via social media which was immediately shared with me, a known hot dog connoisseur in the area. That particular location was the one that I frequented most often. I'm excited to get back to this spot and enjoy more mini dogs with the works for years to come.

Hot Dog Charlie's isn't just a "hot dog place." It's a local legend. I brought my own kids to their Lansingburgh location over the weekend so that they could learn the ways of the hot dog force, just like I had learned from my father before me.
Welcome back, Hot Dog Charlie's. You've been missed and it is good to see you again, old friend. The Cohoes location, according to Google, it open every day until 8pm. Just thought you should know.
