The date has finally arrived! The city of Troy hits the big screen, or little screen depending on the size of your television, tonight at 9pm with the debut of HBO's "The Gilded Age".

It looks like the Capital Region is slowly becoming the Hollywood of the Northeast. HBO's "The White House Plumbers" with Woody Harrelson was shot in Albany last Summer and just before that it was the cast and crew of "The Gilded Age" taking over Troy.

According to Times Union, much of downtown Troy was redesigned and recreated to look like Manhattan in 1882. Whether you watched the filming, cast as an extra or just curious, you will be amazed to see Troy play the part of New York City.

HBO's "The Gilded Age" is the new series from “Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes and stars Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon along with Taissa Farmiga, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Audra McDonald, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Harry Richardson, Thomas Cocquerel, and Jack Gilpin.

Times Union describes the opening shots of the latest trailer as an entrance to the Rensselaer County Court House at Second and Congress streets. You might also recognize the fraternity house at 49 Second St. as it was also used in the movie "The Age of Innocence".

The first season of "The Gilded Age" will run nine episodes, airing between Jan. 24 and March 21.
