If New York State Troopers have a repeat of last year, they will have tons of arrests and tickets issued this week.

Last year, New York State is did a campaign that resulted in 935 DWI arrests and 24,699 tickets issued statewide. They are doing the same campaign again this year and it just so happens that is one of the biggest party weekends of the year in New York State. This year they will be looking for impaired drivers in a major crackdown and checkpoints all over New York State.

New York State Governor Hochul said that you will certainly see increased patrolling across the State:

When I became Governor, I promised to make New York safer for everyone. Impaired driving can shatter lives — just as it did for Atoria Elem, who had turned 21 the day before an impaired driver crashed into her after leaving a St. Patrick’s Day parade.

If you are going out for St. Patrick's Day this weekend just make sure that you are careful. Uber is in every major city in New York State now so there is no excuse when people drive drunk. Not to mention, it is so much more convenient and fun knowing that you car is safe (or even already at home) and you can go out and then you don't have to worry about if you have had to much to drink or not.

  • The 264th New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade is happening in New York City on Sunday and will air on channel 2 at 11 AM
  • The Buffalo, New York parade is the 2nd biggest parade in the State and will get kicked off on Delaware Ave, at 2 PM.
  • The Buffalo tradition 'Old Neighborhood' parade will be on Saturday the 15th at 11 AM.

St. Patrick's Day is actually on Monday, March 17, 2025.
