Hit-and-Runs at Highmark Stadium Leave One Dead, Another Injured

A story from The New York Post shared the tragic news that a fan walking near Highmark Stadium in Buffalo was struck and killed by a moving vehicle as part of a hit-and-run incident on Monday night. Another pedestrian was hit as part of a separate incident, and though they survived, they were seriously injured in the accident.

The fan that lost their life was 65 years old, and a resident of Rochester, NY. As stated by The Post, he succumbed to injuries after emergency services attempted to save his life just before 8:20 p.m. ET.

The second pedestrian was struck around 10PM, roughly one mile from the stadium, after being involved in an accident that was said to be the fault of the walker. The driver involved in this accident, who was determined to have the right-of-way, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to the report.

The suspect responsible for the first hit-and-run was not immediately identified. Authorities investigated the hit-and-run, however, and determined that Khairullah Hasein, a 32-year old Amazon driver from Buffalo, was at-fault for the deadly collision. Hasein was charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death, and could face up to seven years in prison if convicted.

It was stated that Hasein likely would not have faced criminal charges if he remained at the scene of the crime at the time.
