BJ's Wholesale Club wants to move its store within the town of Rotterdam to a new location that would allow for a larger store and gas pumps. BJ's Wholesale allows customers in the club to get a discount on gas.

Where Is The New BJ's Wholesale Club Being Proposed?

According to the Albany Business Review, a developer is looking to rezone two pieces of land on Route 7 east of the I-88 ramps. This area is a little of seventeen acres. This would allow a bigger store and the ability to build gas pumps.

What Would The New BJ's Wholesale Be Like?

The store would be 102,500 square feet and have eight gas pumps plus a two thousand square foot retail building. It will be located at 900 Duanesburg Road in Rotterdam. There would also be a drive-thru according to the plans submitted.

The existing BJ's Wholesale Club is just four miles away at 70 West Campbell Road. It is located near ViaPort Rotterdam.

What Happens Next?

The Rotterdam Town Planning Commission will look over the request for the zoning changes from agricultural to general business. If the request is approved, the planning commission will make a recommendation to the town board. Ultimately, the town board has final approval.
