Northeast’s Largest Closeout Retail Chain Closing After 10 yrs in Albany

Another huge retail closeout store is shutting its doors for good in Albany. This is the only location closing, The other five stores will remain open and those employees will be transferred to the other locations.

What Store Is Closing?

After being in the Westgate Plaza on Central Avenue in Albany for over ten years, Ocean State Job Lot will be closing its doors for good. Ocean State Job Lot is a Rhode Island-based discount closeout chain of stores. They have locations in Clifton Park, Schenectady, Troy-North Greenbush, Valatie, and Ballston Spa.

The Lease Is Up and There Is a Sale Going On

Ocean State Job Lot in the Westgate Plaza's ten-year lease is up and they are not renewing. They are currently holding a forty percent off all inventory sale at that location according to the Times Union.

Employees Will Be Offered Other Positions

Ocean State Job Lot's Communication Director, Lynn Hall said,

Every associate has been offered the opportunity to continue employment with the company at one of the nearby stores. All transferring associates will maintain their current position and rate of pay.

It's a relief that Ocean State Job Lots is not closing all of their stores in the Capital Region. Not like other retailers that are going out of business like recently announced Christmas Tree Shops.
