After record-setting high temperatures this weekend, winter weather returns early this week.

It is hard to believe we are talking about snow to kick off the work week after seeing some record-high temperatures in the Capital Region this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the following local temperature records were set for February 11th:

It was certainly picture-perfect weather for most of the day Saturday before showers set in, but those high temps were just a fleeting winter moment.

According to News Channel 13, today (Sunday, February 11th) will be dry and cooler with clouds and highs in the mid-40s. Then things get interesting to kick off the work week as winter returns after taking the weekend off!

National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch from late Monday night to Tuesday evening for most of Upstate New York from the Capital Region south. Heavy snow is possible, with up to a foot possible in some areas. Accumulations will be higher in areas south of Albany. Below you can see the latest estimated snowfall predictions from the National Weather Service.

New York Local Snowfall Estimates For Tuesday, February 13, 2024

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for areas in Upstate New York by the National Weather Service (NWS) for Monday night February 12th through Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Snow will start early Tuesday for most areas in Upstate New York. Snowfall estimates this storm range from a few inches in areas north of Saratoga Springs to up to a foot possible in the Catskills and Hudson Valley. We will have to crush that number this winter for the season ahead to make this NWS top 10 list of our snowiest Albany winters on record.
